The electric car was first invented around a hundred years ago but the gasoline engine gave car drivers a lot more flexibility to travel further from home.

With the world concerned about the environment and the stocks of oil and gas due to run out sometime over the next few decades we are once again looking at the electric car.

There have been various small electric vehicles but while they may have been ingenious they have not been entirely practical to use with short ranges and long recharging periods.

Now with the tesla electric car we have a real car with real performance and a decent range. The Tesla could be the start of a new era in motoring.
