Acai Berry – From Brazil To You

Acai berries have long been certified super health foods but did you ever wonder where they come from or where they’re grown? acai berry plants are actually grown in the Amazon Rainforest on acai palm trees. The fruits are round and purple and very much resemble grapes, except that they’re much smaller. At least 90% of this fruit is composed of its seed, with the remaining 10% being pulp which requires careful handling before it can be consumed. During the process, the fruits are placed in a machine with water and are ground against each other. Basically, the pulp has to be separated from the seed to produce a thick puree. This is now further processed to become commercially available acai juice, powder and a whole array of acai-based products.
