Doctor allows labor to last 44 hour despite complications

This case involves a prolonged labor with complications that resulted in the Stillbirth of the baby due to medical malpractice on the part of the physician in handling the labor and delivery.  The mother was febrile when she went into labor.  The physician allowed her to be in labor for a total of approximately 42 hours despite the fact that after the first 22 hours of labor her fever increased and her unborn baby’s heart began racing.  The source of the mother’s fever was an infection which reached her baby and essentially poisoned the baby while the physician continued to wait before delivering the baby.  Reports indicate that the law firm that handled this case took it to trial and achieved a jury verdict of $4.1 Million.
