Cloth Diapers vs. Disposable Diapers

Cloth diapers offer a number of advantages over disposable diapers.  Forefront in my mind is the cost advantage, cloth diapers are much cheaper than disposable diapers.  When you consider the cost of buying thousands of disposable diapers per child versus cloth diapers that can be re-used for multiple children the savings cloth diapers offer are astounding. Environmental concerns also motivate parents to choose cloth diapers.  Disposable diapers fill up landmines and are not biodegradable.  Cloth diaper users purchase far fewer diapers and tend to re-use them for other children and as household rags which results in less garbage in landmines. Cloth diapers also offer advantages directly to our children, they are less likely to cause diaper rash and Toxic Shock Syndrome.  Cloth diapers are also beneficial for potty training making them the right choice for parents and babies.
