Quilting Patterns: Is Hip

In quilt stitching, layers of fabric are spun together and designed intricately to give an aesthetic finish. A quilt usually consists of the top quilt, an insulating layer of cloth and a bottom backing fabric. Though quilts were originally hand sewn, the advent of sewing machines made the job easier.

A quilter holds the fabric with a quilting frame and drifts the needle and thread through the layers. In sewing machine, the layers are pinned or tack stitched together initially and removed after quilting. Longarm quilting systems has an upper hand over sewing machines and hand quilting on account of its speed and reliability. My next post will be about, quilting patterns.
