When our son started to college he needed some help in deciding where he wanted to go and what he needed to learn to get there.  We encouraged him to look around and at the same time to be serious in his looking.  Too many students spend their college years looking and then never really decide what they want to do until it happens to them.  About half was through his first year he discovered the respiratory therapy programs that were offered there.  He came home and talked to us about it and we were more than willing to support him in going into this field.
