When I was first out of high school, I joined the military and served my country for almost ten years. After I got out, I wanted to continue to serve in some way, and a friend of mine recommended that I look into police officer careers. I was able to talk to a county police officer about what kinds of preparation I needed, and he advised me as far as what kinds of college classes to take. After I was done, I applied at the county sheriff level, and I was hired on. My job is rewarding, and it feels great to be respected as an officer.
