Camcorders are electronic devices with an inbuilt video camera and a video recorder forming a single unit. With the advent of hard and optical disks, flash memory there are more available means of storage mediums for camcorders. The 3 main constitutional parts of the camcorder are the imager, the lens and the recorder. The imager collects the light focused on it by the lens and converts it in to electrical signal which is stored as digital video by the recorder.

With an increase in the charge coupled devices and its size, the output image quality also rises. Hybrid camcorders are those which use two different kinds of storage media, 1 is the inbuilt hard drives and other is detachable memory element. My next post will be about, professional camcorder.
